How you will arrive?
By car
You reach Erlangen in most cases coming on motorway A3. At crossing  A73 / Fürth, Erlangen use northern direction to Erlangen, Bamberg.

On A73 take exit Erlangen Zentrum and drive over the big parking areas west from railway station, turn left, driving along the railways, pass Sportland on the left, turn right through an underpass. Turn left and after 10 meters at the traffic lights again turn right. Up the hill, pass the traffic lights and reach the street Neue Strasse. 

The A.B. hotel is located at the
next traffic lights crossing, on the right side.

By train
Leave the railway station in direction to the city center and reach the place Hugenottenplatz with bus stations. There you find Hauptstraße (pedestrian zone).
Turn left and follow the main street Hauptstrasse in northern direction until you reach the place Martin-Luther
-Platz.
Turn right at the traffic lights into the street Neue Strasse, after 75 meters at the first traffic lights you can see the A.B. hotel on the right corner.

The nearest bus station
is Marti-Luther-Platz
From there, take Neue Straße, after 250 meters on the right hand side you find A.B. Hotel

By plane
A taxi drive from Nuremberg Albrecht-Dürer-Airport, north from Nuremberg, to Erlangen is about 40 Euro.

Location & surroundings
Where is Erlangen in Germany?
Erlangen is conveniently located in the center of Germany near the motorway  A3. From here you reach directly freeways in all directions of Germany. With A3 you reach Frankfurt in western direction, Regensburg, Passau in eastern direction. In southeastern direction you will reach Munich, in northeast Bayreuth, Dresden, Berlin. In northern direction is located Kassel, Hannover, Hamburg, in south western direction  Ulm, Stuttgart, Bodensee.

Erlangen and surroundings
Most visitors know three keywords about Erlangen:  Friedrich-Alexander-University, the University Hospitals and Siemens.

Along the main street and pedestrian zone there are many shops, cafés and bars. In the old town you find many restaurants of all categories.

400 meters south from the central Hugenottenplatz you reach the shopping mall Arcaden. The Arcaden parking house is perfect for visiting the center of the city.

200 meters south from the A.B. Hotel you can visit the Schlossgarten and botanical garden. Every summer the biggest European garden party takes place here in the park behind the Erlangen castle: the Schlossgartenfest. On the other side of the castle building is the market place.



Neighbour cities
Bamberg and Nuremberg are well-known and interesting cities in the neighbourhood of Erlangen.

Bamberg
Interesting sights in Bamberg are e.g. the castle "Altenburg", the dome,  Bamberg more calm than Nuremberg. Visit the castle Altenburg, the dome, or the a scenic pedestrian zone with numerous shops, gastronomy in local colours as well as beergardens.
Nürnberg
Nürnberg offers a lot to see: The castle Kaiser-Burg, churches  Lorenzkirche, Sebalduskirche, Hauptmarkt (main market) with Schöner Brunnen ("beautiful fountain") and the historical old town.

Landscape
Knoblauchsland - "land of garlic"
In the South of Erlangen, between Erlangenand Nuremberg, is situated "Knoblauchsland", named after the areas of vegetable gardening and greenhouses  in which vegetables are grown not only for the region of Erlangen/Nuremberg. In the villages Kraftshof, Buch, Boxdorf etc. there are lots of local restaurants with delicious regional food.

Fränkische Schweiz  - Franconian Switzerland
The landscape in the northeast of Erlangen with its hills is the door to "Fränkische Schweiz". There are numerous small roads and villages with Franconian gastronomy.  Many villages have their own breweries. In total there are 350 breweries, therefore the area has worldwide the highest density of breweries. Make an excursion to this area with landscape, walking, hiking, delicious gastronomy and tasty beer.
